SOUTH KOREA
SEOUL & JEJU ISLAND, SOUTH KOREA (23rd - 30th September 2023)
Trip Overview
Wifey (Adventure Name: BR:@’s Better Half) and I had always wanted to visit South Korea, and we actually booked a trip in and around the time of Covid-19, and we were not able to go then, obviously. I had been to South Korea before in 1997 as part of my then company’s Annual Company Trip, with a group of more than forty individuals, but the South Korea then and the South Korea now is so much different. Also, we were on guided tours then, hence there wasn’t much room to make adjustments to our trip, but in this trip, Wifey and I planned pretty much our own adventures.
We decided to cover both Seoul, the capital city, and Jeju Island, the place we planned to visit in 2020. We had to take a domestic flight to get there. There is really so much to explore in Seoul, a modern city built around its old soul; a bustling metropolis, yet not forgetting its roots and history; a city so vibrant and captivating, yet exuding an old world charm through its well-preserved historical buildings and architecture.
While the city itself feels safe and the conveniences of modern amenities make for fast-paced lifestyles, there always is that overshadowing feel which is etched into the psyche of the populace – the longstanding war with its northern neighbour which is still not fully resolved after 70 years. But there is no denying that South Korea’s arms are wide open to receive adventure travellers like us.
